On 17th November a crowd of Wakey juniors and parents set off around the red route from Dixon's Hollow. The pace was reasonable and we made the Visitors Centre for lunch. A quick turnaround there meant that we were back to the start point before the light started the fade. We'll organise another date in Spring and hope that some of the younger riders come along
A great result from Wakefield Junior Tri Club at the Brownlee triathlon last month - 2nd Youth Team to finish. And here's the team with Mr Brownlee himself...
Tom Seaman, Grace Feetham, Brendon Wain, Ruby Pilling
Cyclocross is a great sport for juniors during the winter now that triathlon events have stopped. Events for all ages from Trikidz to Youths. Parents can get involved too. A cyclocross bike is best but a mountain bike is absolutely fine. For advice, ask coaches on Fridays. Look at our calendar for dates & details

The forthcoming Yorks TDF has driven initiative and a flurry of activity and funding so that this year Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale councils, together with BC, will be providing rides locally. As local skyride leaders we have delivered 34 new routes in/around Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield over the last 2 weeks with another 12 or so to come.
There will be a formal launch in Leeds on 7th July.
Skyride details can be seen at www.goskyride.com
The Tod junior tri that was planned for 7th July has been cancelled. Calderdale plan to run this event again in 2014.
Due to high numbers on Friday nights, we have temporarily suspended taking new members. A waiting list has been set up. Please email the membership secretary at firstname.lastname@example.org

Thornes Track is probably going to be snow covered tomorrow, but rather than miss out, we have decided to have a parent-led run round Thornes Park. We will need some parents to accompany their children, so please come prepared...
Unfortunately the bad weather has once again disrupted our plans and we are going to postpone this weekends club duathlon until Sunday April 14th.
As with the last two sessions we have had a lot of demand for the velodrome session on the 14th April. As the sessions are building towards accreditation we have been asked by the organiser to prioritise those who have attended regularly over the last few sessions. For the same reasons any riders who have already gained accreditation have not been prioritised this time. For those who have not made it this time its worth bearing in mind that sessions over the summer months are usually quieter and there may be more opportunities. There are also drop in sessions especially over school holidays, keep an eye on the velodrome website for details.
A sponsored walk of varying lengths along the banks of the Calder and Hebble Navigation - see posterfor more details
Please note the date for the Hill Climb has changed to Sunday 21st April. Same place. Same time.
From Millhouse Green near Penistone route will go up to Royd Moor
The picture is Tom Haywood receiving his trophy from Lois Rosindale, part of the GB Tri team. He won the Tri Start Yorkshire series. Well done to Tom from everyone!
"Saturday night saw the Yorkshire Cyclo-cross presentation night in Bradford. The club was well represented across the youth and junior categories. Jacob Feetham won boys U14 with Jordan Reed 9th, Chris Wilson 12th, Joe Pilling 16th and Jack Ford 18th. Georgina Mouser was the 5th U14 girl. In the U16 category, Tom Seaman was 4th, Ben Dransfield 8th, Leon Gilpin 27th. Ruby Pilling won U16 girls with Elizabeth Lloyd in 3rd place. In the junior category, Libby Greatorex was winning girl with Sarah Lloyd was 3rd. In the club competition, our juniors (together with a little help form the odd senior Wakefield Tri rider) finished second which is a fantastic performance. Well done to all those who competed"
The snow and ice has all melted now - so training is now back on again.
6.30pm Thornes Stadium see you there!
Well done to everyone who took part in today's run at Pugneys. Conditions weren't great - but some of your times were faster than the seniors could manage - so good effort!

We will start races at 9.30 and aim to be finished by lunchtime, giving juniors & parents the chance to get to Bradford for the senior race at the national cyclo-cross champs. It should be notes that this is a non drafting event to give juniors some experience of that and give the lap counters a chance! We need all parents to lend a hand to make this event work! Tristar Start: (8 yrs) 400m (1 lap) 1200m (3 laps) 200m (half lap) Tristar 1: (9-10 yrs) 1200m (3 laps) 4000m (10 laps) 400m (1 lap) Tristar 2: (11-12 yrs) 1600m (4 laps) 6000m (15 laps) 600m (1.5 laps) Tristar 3: (13-14 yrs) 2000m (5 laps) 8000m (20 laps) 800m (2 laps) Youth: (15-16 yrs) 2000m (5 laps) 8000m (20 laps) 800m (2 laps)
Well done to everyone who took part in the skills competition on Friday evening. There were 36 riders who completed, Tom Seaman finished at the top of the standings being the only rider to complete every section, Ruby Pilling was the top finishing girl 4 points behind. The main thing to take away from the competition is that everyone improved on their skills since we started these drills a few weeks ago. Well run another competition in the new year, so keep practicing! Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who helped on the night. Well have a few prizes for this at the presentation evening on Friday.
